Kęstutis Mažeika became the environment minister of the Republic of Lithuania

On the 9th of April the Member of Seimas Kęstutis Mažeika took the oath and became the environment minister.

On his introduction meeting at the ministry, K. Mažeika mentioned that the institution encompasses large sector and many areas. According to the new minister, there will be lots of challenges along the way but with the help of the expert team – employees of the ministry – goals can be met. The first main tasks for the new environment minister are to tackle forestry and climate change issues.

Before becoming minister, K. Mažeika was the chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment Protection.

K. Mažeika has a PhD in agricultural sciences from the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy.
