Algirdas Pieniuta

Viceminister of the Environment

 

Algirdas Pieniuta has served as Vice-Minister of Environment since July 2026.

Before his appointment, Mr Pieniuta served as an adviser to the Minister of Transport and Communications. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade working in the railway transport sector, gaining experience in management, strategic planning, environmental matters and infrastructure maintenance.

From 2021 to 2025, he led a team in the Technical Maintenance Department at LTG Infra. Earlier, he held specialist positions at Lithuanian Railways and the Railway Environmental Centre, where his work covered infrastructure and vegetation maintenance, operational planning and environmental matters.

Mr Pieniuta holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Forestry from the Agriculture Academy of Vytautas Magnus University. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Lithuanian Local History from Vytautas Magnus University.

As Vice-Minister, he is responsible for forest policy.
