Climate Week
Climate Week is an annual initiative of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania that brings climate change closer to people, communities and organisations across the country.
The initiative creates a common platform for discussing climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience. It encourages participants to share knowledge, present practical solutions and consider how decisions made by public authorities, businesses, communities and individuals can contribute to Lithuania’s climate objectives.
Climate Week has been organised since 2019. It brings together municipalities, public institutions, research and educational organisations, businesses, non-governmental organisations, libraries, cultural institutions, local communities and residents.
Throughout the week, organisations across Lithuania hold conferences, public discussions, educational activities, workshops, exhibitions, guided tours, community initiatives and other events. The programme covers a wide range of topics, including energy efficiency, clean energy, sustainable mobility, climate science, biodiversity, climate risks, adaptation and the transition to a climate-neutral economy.
The Ministry of Environment invites municipalities and organisations to propose their own activities. Selected events are included in the national Climate Week programme, which features both public events and activities organised for individual institutions or communities.
In recent years, Climate Week has grown into a nationwide initiative. In 2024, more than 180 events were organised in 34 municipalities. In 2025, around 150 events took place across 29 municipalities, with activities organised by municipalities, schools, libraries, cultural centres and local communities.
The theme and programme are updated each year to reflect current climate policy priorities and significant international developments. The 2025 edition marked the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement and focused on the shared responsibility to reduce the impacts of climate change, adapt to its consequences and strengthen resilience.
Information about upcoming events and opportunities to contribute is published by the Ministry of Environment and on the Lithuanian Climate Change Portal.
